And the winner for most hype and least production is...

...the Brett Favre trade!

The Green Bay Packers have sent Favre to the NY Jets for a conditional 4th round pick (which can move up depending on how much Favre plays and how successful the team is). My reaction? Who cares?

And here's a secret for all of you: Brett Favre is no longer a top 10 QB. In fact, here's a list of the QBs who are better (in no real order save for the top 2): Tom Brady, Peyton Manning, Carson Plamer, Drew Brees, Ben Roethlisberger, Tony Romo, Donovan McNabb, Matt Hasselbeck, David Garrard, Derek Anderson, Marc Bulger, Jason Campbell, Eli Manning, Jay Cutler, Matt Schaub, and Phillip Rivers. Ouch. That puts him in the bottom half of starting QBs in the league.

But he's Brett Favre, living legend, so people are now picking the Jets to make the playoffs and such.

Hmm...doesn't anyone remember that the Jets were 4-12 last year? That's not just a QB problem. Who is going to block for Favre? Sure they have some good players like Alan Faneca, D'Brickashaw Ferguson, and Nick Mangold, but what happens if any of those guys gets hurt (which will happen). Laveranues Coles and Jericho Cotchery are good, but not as good as the Packers' corps. Is anybody at all going to be able to stop the run or the pass?

Brett Favre is one of the all-time best. A top-20 QB for sure, probably top-10, and depending on who you ask (John Madden) a top-5 all-time. Nobody can't take away from his past accomplishments, and he is a first-ballot Hall-of-Famer (although so was Art Monk, but it took him 7 years to get it). But Brett Favre is no-longer a great QB. He just isn't. In addition, he thinks he is and plays very recklessly. And it is utterly ridiculous that Brett would tool around a franchise that has been very good to him for an entire off-season (further proof that athletes are human too and for us to expect better of them is preposterous).

So you heard it here folks: the Jets will be mildly improved thanks mostly to off-season acquisitions prior to Favre but still won't make the playoffs and the Packers, led by Aaron Rodgers, will be just as potent and should be in the playoff hunt.
